This part of the St. Catherine University Ade Bethune Collection includes Bethune's personal correspondence with more than 150 people. Of special note is over 30 years worth of correspondence with Arthur Graham Carey, his wife Nancy, and other family members. She also corresponded with church community figures, such as S. Peter Claver Fahy, Rev. Frederick R. McManus, and Fr. H.A. Reinhold, and admirers from all over the world. Topics range from informal art and design advice, discussions of liturgy and religion, to personal matters. The collection includes letters to news editors, television hosts, and political leaders. She also corresponded with other successful artists, such as Leandro Locsin, Alfonso Ossorio, and Fernando Zobel. The collection is made up of handwritten and typed letters, photographs, postcards, sketches, and other items that Bethune kept with her correspondence.

Ade Bethune was born in Brussels, Belgium, Jan. 12, 1914. In 1928 her family immigrated to the United States. Bethune met Dorothy Day in 1934 and became involved with the Catholic Worker movement. She produced a great deal of original art for the Catholic Worker, including designs for thank-you and Christmas cards for Catholic Worker readers.
